Jasper Jones was the best book I read last year and I read a lot of books and a lot of those books I like. BUT (and yes, I know I shouldn’t start a sentence with but) this is a very special book. It’s the sort of book you could read when you’re 16 and enjoy it, or read it when you’re…a little bit older than 16, like myself, and still enjoy it. It’s everything; its funny, sad, there’s suspence and did I mention its funny? The converations between the narrator Charlie and his best friend are hilarious. It’s fairly dark as well; some of its hard to read (in the same way you might watch something horrible at the movies through your fingers). It’s a good text for the Belonging area of study as well – mostly in the sense of not belonging. It won heaps of awards. Just read it!
